Friendship takes time and effort

Thank you Brian Donaldson for sending in this article on the statistics of Friendship.

Written by Kirstin Ferguson (She/Her)

Non-executive director, author and columnist. Adjunct Professor at QUT Business School and former Deputy Chair of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC).

The statistics of friendship...

150 - the average number of casual friends we have

15 - the average number of meaningful friends we have

5 - the average number of close friends we have

45 - the average number of hours to move from an acquaintance to friend

50 - the average number of hours to move from casual friend to meaningful friend

100 - the average number of hours to move from meaningful friend to the inner circle of being a close friend

8.5 - the average number of hours in a month we devote to the people in our inner circle of close friends

2 - the average number of hours in a month we devote to our meaningful friends

20 - the number of minutes in a month we devote to everyone else

How does this fit with your experience? And do you know someone who practices "aggressive friendship"?
