Brisbane Valley Rail Trail - Adventure Walk

Thu, 25 Aug

|

Toogoolawah , Exchange Hotel

This is our first for AAH's new activity, Walk of Discovery. This is a beautiful walk through beautiful countryside with the added attraction of historic rail stations and characterful refreshment establishments (pubs and coffee houses) along the way. Highly recommended by Brian May.

AAH Activity Announcement

Brisbane Valley Rail Trail -  Adventure Walk

(Esk to Toogoolawah Section)

Approximately 20 Kilometres

Date: Thursday, 25th August 2022

Event Organiser: Brian May – see below for contact details

For details and a map see:

Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, Esk to Toogoolawah Section (Check out the information/map and reviews available at this web address.)

Esk to Toogoolawah is a beautiful walk through the very attractive countryside on a disused railway track that has been re-purposed and maintained as a leisure zone for walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

The idea of the adventure would be to hit the trail at Esk quite early and so that we arrive at Toogoolawah in time for a well-deserved lunch at the Pub.

This would require a Brisbane start no later than 7.00 am. Rendezvous Point to be advised later.

We are looking for 12 people (at least) on a first come first served basis. (If, as is likely, there is more interest a second group can easily be added.) A reasonable degree of walking fitness is required but the terrain is mainly flat or gently undulating so no special fitness level is required.

The contribution to AAH funds would be a modest $15 per person. (Incidental expenses, lunch, coffees etc on this basis would be at your expense.)

When numbers are known I can co-ordinate some carpooling to get to Esk from Brisbane and return for those interested. It is about an hour’s drive to the start-point of the walk in the centre of Esk.

Perhaps you could let me know if you have any questions, or simply click RSVP to reserve a place.

A full fact sheet with final arrangements will be provided to all participants.

August is a particularly good time to walk the trail before it gets too hot in Summer, as some parts are exposed open country.

Don’t forget…..motion is lotion…your body will thank you for it.

Any questions please let me know.
